Oh I LOVE that song! At my wedding my husband made a slideshow presentation of pictures of us growing up, and then pictures of us together, and that was one of the songs in it! So it's really specially to me.
As to the painting itself it feels like a cold rainy day, depressing and yet comforting to see all those people huddled together.

It is one of my favorite songs of all time, I could see that at my wedding as well! It's a beautiful song. It also makes me think of my best friend who passed a few years ago, which helped with the creation of the piece - those feelings...I used the colors I felt were in the song and within my thoughts as I listened to it and memories of my friend passed through my mind. In the lightest part, (I know it's really hard to see) is one last figure, embracing the light and looking back at the group to the side as if saying one last goodbye. Depressing yet comforting, yep, that is how I would describe the feelings I get when thinking of that song and all associated personally with it.

Thank you, I was sad to see it go, I would have loved to have kept it :)

I think it's difficult to perfectly describe the light with an "instinctive" technique like yours. Amazing piece.

Thank you so much! This is an older piece and I realized within the past couple of months I have strayed from the light qualities I was getting in some of my past works that really brought another element and dimension to the pieces. I am trying to go focus a bit more on that aspect in my newer works.

Thank you :) I just had gotten too "comfortable", you know? The female image has gotten to be such a focal point in my work that it had become almost routine to paint it. I am not ready to abandon the image or even really move far from it as I feel I have so much more to say with it, but I needed to challenge myself more and not let myself get so comfortable with it. So I have been looking back at my more successful pieces to move ahead from there. It's strange cause I almost feel like for several months I was in the stagnant block only I kept right on painting. So admittedly I am not incredibly proud of some of my pieces from that time. I guess all I can do is take it as a learning experiance and move ahead from where I left off. It's been very freeing and I am very happy with the past 6 or 6 pieces I have painted.

Do whatever you think is useful for you :)
I think, for an artist, the only important thing is following what you feel. Everyone of us has his/her personal formative process and it can move in all directions.
